Whether or not you like the Black Eyed Peas or not, If you want more out of life these lyrics should resonate from within. Do you want to change where you are in life in all aspects? If so, you have to own it and take the responsibility of going and making it different. When it all comes down... when the rubber meets the road... it is up to you. Not you spouse, not your parents, not your brothers, sisters, friends, peers, or anyone else. IT IS UP TO YOU.
Maybe that means taking a deeper look at how to be a better spouse, or parent, or friend. Maybe it means pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and pushing forward into things you know are what you are supposed to do. Maybe that means trying something you never thought you would try or would be able to do. Pushing yourself harder. Gaining in confidence. Succeeding in small things leading to big things. Just making any changes that can steer this ship called life a new direction.
Whatever it means to go out and own it, I encourage you to do so.
Maybe you aren't at a place that you feel you can do it. Maybe you are used to being protected and defensive about your life. Fear of failure cripples you from doing things that could free you forever. Fear of rejection shakes you to the core but opening up could open your life to greater things.
Being successful starts in the mind. Gaining a drive to succeed in life starts with a baby step of "I will do this and see where it goes. I will take a step out and if I fail so what." One failure doesn't mean anything. One failure is a drop in the bucket of missteps we all will have. Don't miss out on your dreams because of a fear of failure. If that is the case you have just failed.
